There are some good reasons for installing a heat only or conventional boiler...
One of the main reasons we're asked to install heat only boilers (sometimes referred to as conventional, open-vent or regular boiler) is for houses with low water pressure. The boiler heats the radiators but also supplies hot water via cylinder often situated in the loft or upstairs cupboard. The boiler is fed via a cold water tank in the loft.
Another reason we sometimes install these boilers is because they can supply multiple showers at once, due to not relying on water pressure from the mains - showers are 'gravity-fed'. Sometimes heat only boilers are installed in older homes as direct replacements where it would otherwise be difficult to update pipe-work.
There are some downsides to installing a heat only boiler: Space is required for a hot water cylinder and cold water feed, separate from the boiler its self. Also the hot water will run out of the cylinder is emptied.
